Calendar of Firsts 11 ~17 April 2016

My Calendar of Firsts for this week:

  • Tortoiseshell butterflies
  • Bluebells, in the park and in our garden
  • Gorse (although this one is cheating, as there is always gorse, but it is one of my favourite flowers and I even wear gorse perfume.)
  • Tiny violets hidden in the grass in the garden, and along our path.
  • Tadpoles! Oh my, I am so remiss! The tadpoles hatched a couple of weeks ago, and I have not sketched, or even mentioned them.

I did not include any ‘colours of the week’ this week. I was running short of space on my page.

  1. Hi Lynn

Beautiful page, just screams spring. You don’t need to put in colours this week they are already on the page. We have seen our first bluebell this week, too.

Our tadpoles are growing well, they seem to be getting bigger every day. They are the first thing we all check as we come down in the morning.

What about the snow on Saturday ? That wàs a surprise when we woke up! We had rain, hail and sunshine all on the same day. Sunday couldn’t have been more different, beautiful sun and quite a few butterflies. We have also been pond dipping with wildlife club this weekend, the river we were planning on visiting was too fast so we went to a nearby reedbed and had a go there, great fun. Also saw an oystercatcher, the first one of the year, swallows were reported but I didn’t see one unfortunately.

    Best wishes

    Jenny

    1. I hadn’t thought of it that way, Jenny. Yes, the colours are very much present in the page 🙂

      We didn’t have any snow!

Lots of things for you to see and record. Can your pencil keep up???
