My Calendar of Firsts this week:

  • Geese honking overhead.
  • Swathes of Daffodils in the park.
  • Snow! It came down hard, but was short-lived.
  • Rosie’s grasshopper Jerry died on Sunday.

My ‘colours’ for the week, along the top left hand page, are the moody greys and pinks of the skies this week.

  1. Hi Lynn
So sad about Jerry, my children were reading this email along with me and they are worried for Rosie, they want to know she is ok. It seems very sudden,I have no idea how long a grasshopper would live, please send her our condolences.
We too had snow, we were out with the grandparents for a walk and we were caught out in the middle of a field! The children were so excited, planning sledging races, snowmen etc. but it wasn’t to last all gone before we even got home. We all had a nice hot drink when we got home. We saw a trio of roe deer just before the snow too which was great.
I think my colours this week would have to be brown, mud and lots of it, everywhere.
Love your daffs, don’t they look smashing at the moment, there seems to be one everywhere you look, poking out of the sea of mud!

I have been enjoying the periscopes you recommended, very useful. I like the format it’s like sitting having a cuppa with some friends, although I have been watching catch up as Thursday afternoon is nature walk time.

    Best wishes

    Jenny

    1. Thank you Jenny.

Rose is ok. She is feeling very pragmatic about it. She did not expect the grasshopper to live as long as it did, and is pleased that she was able to save it from becoming reptile food.

Rose was disappointed too with the brevity of the snow. The Roe dear must have been a wonderful sight!

Leah’s periscopes are wonderful, aren’t they. Such a help.

      Lx
