My Calendar of Firsts this week:

I missed our nature walks this week as I was very poorly, so my firsts are all from our garden.

My ‘colours’ for the week, along the top left hand page, are quite murky this week. Lots of rain and blustery weather.

As it is the end of the month, I thought I would update you on my ‘list’ pages.

Colours of the year

January turned out to be a much brighter month than I ever expected! Gorgeous rainbows that added a lovely glow to an otherwise dark and rainy month.

My bird List.

A lovely reader shared her smashing idea to use the traffic light system to denote ‘birds of concern’ from the RSPB

  1. Hi Lynn

Looking good, a frog so early! We have seen a squashed one, I wasn’t too keen on drawing it though. My colours are still murky, no rainbows over here to brighten things up, although there are some great pinks in the sunsets.

Don’t worry about your flower list it will soon pick up. I am going to keep a list on butterflies as they are what I would like to learn more about this year, yet to see one this year so my list isn’t even started!

I am taking ideas from keeping a nature journal and practicing, my daughter and I sat drawing the birds during the big garden birdwatch so that was a success in more than one way. It’s a great book. My other half says I am getting better so it must be working! I have finally bought my son a water brush after much nagging and I am hoping he will join us more often, he loves the observing side but is not so keen on the recording.

Bird list looks good, plenty more to come, almost changeover time lets hope the summer visitors have faired well, I am hoping to see a turtle dove, we have a few in our village and they very occasionally land in our garden.

    Best wishes

    Jenny

    1. Lovely that you are having pretty pink sunsets. It does brighten up the drabness of winter.
I am very much looking forward to my flower list picking up, Jenny.
How great that your drawing skills are improving 🙂 I am hoping to improve mine with all the drawing in my calendar of firsts.
