  1. Hi Lynn! I just purchased Exploring Nature With Children to use this fall and am looking forward to keeping a nature journal again. I saw your beautiful watercolors in your nature calendar and wondered if you could answer a question about them… do you do the ink drawing first and then add watercolor, or the other way around? Do you paint on location or take a photo and paint at home (or something else)? Just curious as I do watercolors from photos but haven’t tried adding ink or painting on location yet. Thanks!

      Thank you for taking the time to write, and for your kind words.
      I paint both out in the field, and from photographs; it really does depend upon the subject, and how I am spending my time. I sketch with waterproof ink first, then add watercolour washes.
      I hope that helps a little.
