Calendar of Firsts 2 ~8 May 2016

My Calendar of Firsts for this week:

  • A beautiful, golden, waning moon, that had a touch of pink in a lavender grey sky.
  • Rose found a frog hiding in the garden pond.
  • Our apple tree is full of blossom.

What is happening in the natural world where you live?

Happy exploring!

  1. Hi Lynn

Spring is moving on a pace. Now I have seen swifts well, I’ve seen one but heard many more though just out of view. Our house martins are back and have returned to their nest on a house along the road we look forward to seeing the babies peeping out.

The warm weather has brought out many insects including butterflies, lots of orange tips and small tortoiseshells plus a few blue butterflies. There has also been an aphid explosion on our new buddleia which is good news for the froglets!

Love the blossom, our trees are out too just buzzing with bees, we had four different kinds at one time.

    Best wishes

  2. Oh forgot to add the sighting of the week, a curlew pecking about in a grass field on the side of a busy road!

    Best wishes

    Jenny
