This week’s theme from Exploring Nature With Children is Moss.
Today was an extremely wet day! We braved the rain to go and feed the pigeons, geese, ducks and swan at our local nature spot.
The geese & ducks were worm hunting..
Pigeon lady..
We hunted for moss..
We found a few, before the rain drove us home to warm up & complete our journals.
You see things different when exploring with children.
Definitely!
Children do give us new eyes 🙂
Hi Lynn
You were much braver than us! We had a very quick trip round the garden looking for moss which we then brought inside to draw. I think we will go out whatever next time as we won’t find much lichen in the garden.
We have been finding quite a few references to moss and lichen in our reading this week, it is something we have previously overlooked so thank you for bringing it centre stage. It is so easy to get caught up in the bigger more flashy things.
Still waiting for the weather to become cold and crisp! I want to put in a frost symbol!
Best wishes
Jenny
Yes, I know what you mean about moss & lichen being neglected for the more flashy nature stars 😉 Oooh, yes! looking forward to that frost symbol, too!
We have a moss expert as our next door neighbour 🙂 Our garden is full of the stuff but we’re going to go and see his samples after christmas when he has them out on display 🙂
photos please!
