This week the girls are doing minimal lessons and our focus is on preparing for Christmas
We begin our day with our Jesse tree. We have been doing this for years, & I couldn’t find the original devotions I printed out, but there are so many free ones available now on the internet. I made a lot of our decorations & the girls made the rest when they were very small. The Jesse tree tells the story of Jesus’ coming from Genesis, through to His birth.
We are using our read aloud time to read poems from this wonderful little book:The Puffin Book Of Christmas Poems, then after opening our several (!) Advent calendars and Advent books, we are reading whatever takes our fancy from the Christmas book basket. Lastly, Elianna & I are sharing reading aloud A Christmas Carol.
The girls are both working on their maths, then Latin for Elianna, English From The Roots Up flashcards for Rose, and she is reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever aloud to me.
We have made our gingerbread house, and our Christmas cards (the girls used their thumbs to print reindeer heads)
Our Advent elf, Jingle reappeared on the first day of Advent, as he does each year 🙂
As requested by Rose, I knitted him his own little jumper to keep him warm…
Friday is Elianna’s 12th birthday, so we have a full day planned, with lots of wonderful birthday fun ahead!
